26 seconds: the amount of time it takes for anything you put on your skin to enter your blood stream

Did you know that it only takes 26 seconds for anything you put on your skin to enter your bloodstream? Isn't that crazy? Unfortunately in the US, the chemicals allowed in our beauty products, cleaning products, and food supply chain are largely unregulated.

Think about everything that comes in contact with your skin. Does it usually stay there longer than 26 seconds?...more often than not, right!

This means handsoap, bodywash, shampoo/conditioner, lotion, lipbalm, makeup, deodorant, nail polish, cologne, parfume, laundry detergent/softener, dishsoap, cleaning products.

Toxic burden is one of the many reasons it can be so hard to lose weight. Yes your body is designed to detoxify naturally--we sweat, pee, and 💩 out toxins. This.is.good. However, what if your body can't keep up? Either you are being exposed to too many toxins (hello everyday in our modern society) or your detoxification pathways are all gummed up and not functioning properly...

Or what if you are exposed to neurotoxins that cross the blood-brain barrier and then just keep piling up? This can lead to brain fog, memory problems, allergies, skin rashes, depression/anxiety, and weight gain to name a few.

This is why at Wellness Shifted, we teach you how to get your body effectively detoxing again and teach you the top sources of toxins to avoid. When I first started on this detox journey, I started with changing my deodorant.

What's one toxic product you've traded up?
